How we research
Rules come from the regulation itself, prices only from named sources, and every page carries the date it was last changed.
Where our facts come from
- Federal regulations and FMCSA. Minimum limits, filings and lease rules are checked in the Electronic Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR Parts 376, 387 and 390) and on FMCSA's own pages, not in summaries.
- State agencies. Intrastate minimums and state filings come from the state motor vehicle or transportation department that enforces them.
- Industry research. For costs, we use published research such as the American Transportation Research Institute's operational cost studies, and we say which year and which carriers the data describes.
- Insurers' own documents. Coverage definitions and published price ranges from insurers are labelled as theirs, with the date we read them.
What we will not publish
We do not invent average premiums, savings percentages or rankings. A price that is right for one driver in one state can be badly wrong for another, so when we quote a figure from an insurer or a study, we say whose figure it is and what it covers. Questions that only your policy, your lease or a licensed agent can answer are flagged as such.
Updates and corrections
Every guide shows the date of its last real change; we do not refresh dates without changing the content. Federal rules on insurance minimums change rarely, but filings, forms and state rules do. If you find an error, write to contact@singletruckinsurance.com and we will correct the page.
